" We were looking for something different from the usual work events, and came across Rich and his unique photography social workshops! It ticked all the needs in that it was a learning experience, active, fun and something different. Rich was a great instructor and came well prepared, especially for the rain! The participants learned a number of different techniques and theories and were very excited to use these going forward. - Overall, I’ve had such good feedback that I’m planning on doing a follow up session with Rich! Every walk is customised and explores the local area to your work place. Photo walks help attendees see the sights and scenes close to their work evironment in a new and exciting way. They help people to reinterpret and reimagine a landscape that may have become overfamilar to them.
As a group participants discover exciting new compositions in the local area and learn a number of profressional tips on taking great photographs.
Each photo walk can be fully customised to suit the desired outcomes and budget of your organisation.
There's no need for fancy cameras either. These photo walks are for everyone and participants with camera phones get just as much out of it as those with digital SLRs!
"Nice to get some new ideas and tips and really helped my confidence to be with a group when taking photos."
Every Walking Photographer Photo Walk is developed around your desired outcomes and budget. Whether you want to include a photography competition as part of the walk, want to explore a particular area relevant to your business or have specific ideas that you want to include. Whatever outcomes you're looking for will be incorporated into the photo walk in a fun and engaging way.
In summer 2014 Walking Photographer Tours was commissioned by US financial services corporation BNY Mellon to take their Manchester based employees out on a series of photo walks.
There were three walks in total, each with ten participants. Every walk started at BNY Mellon's Manchester offices in Spinningfields and as we progressed we looked at different the ideas and techniques used in photography. These included tips on composition, ways to approach taking a photo as well as portraiture techniques.
For each idea and technique we looked at, there was a little competition. People would take photos based on the idea and tips explained and the person who presented the best image (on the back of their camera) in response to each idea would win a prize.
Each photo walk lasted for two hours and finished in a local friendly pub where the participants could have a drink, compare photos and have a chat about what they had learned.
Following the photo walk, BNY Mellon held a photography competition where attendees submitted their favourite picture from the walk which was then voted for by all employees on the company's intranet. The two winning photos were then printed, framed and hung in their office's reception area.
